Independent Classes - a note from Ms. Lisa
My goal is to meet each child where they’re at and to encourage their growth and development. In the interest of moving a class forward or helping a little one transition, I may end up inviting a caretaker into the space with us for the first day and potentially beyond. I appreciate your support in my assessment and action plan on how best to help each child in collaboration with you.
I’ve been teaching preschoolers (and lots of first-timers for independent classes) for many years. While each child is unique, I have found several techniques to help bridge the transition from a caretaker to a classroom. I will work with you and your child to make sure you both feel confident and comfortable. Sometimes it takes little ones a few weeks to acclimate and sometimes grownups are totally surprised at their child’s independence on the first day!
It’s all part of the process, par for the course, and most of all - developmentally appropriate!
Check out our blog about how to set your dancer up for a smooth transition to independence and growth. This is especially helpful for young 3's and 4's or if it is your child's first "independent" class.
Together we will plant the seeds of dance and watch them grow!
